How the drugs, whose country of origin is Colombia, ended up under the pallets and for whom they were intended, are being investigated by the police.
According to the prosecutor of the city of Dijon in Burgundy, Olivier Caracoche, 10 kg of cocaine were found in a shipment of fruit that arrived at the Grand Frais store in the city of Beaune. Between 10 and 12 kg were found in similar supplies for three other stores.
A spokesman for Grand Frais said the supermarket chain was working closely with the police, which itself ensured that “staff and customers will be safe.”
