Russia’s military aggression creates real threats to people’s lives and safety, making it impossible to ensure the safety of foreign citizens on the territory of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked Hasidic pilgrims to refrain from traveling to Uman during this year’s Rosh Hashanah celebration. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel.
It was noted that the Russian military aggression creates real threats to people’s lives and safety, which makes it impossible to ensure the safety of foreign citizens on the territory of Ukraine.
The Foreign Ministry added that in the event of a decision on pilgrimage, despite the reservations, Hasidim should take into account the current martial law in Ukraine, which includes several restrictions: curfew, restrictions on mass gatherings, increased patrol and enforcement measures for those. that violates these restrictions.
Factors that can complicate the search for pilgrims include: insufficient number of accommodation facilities; congestion of transportation routes and possible delays due to shelling; limited health care resources; it is possible to introduce additional rules for entry and stay in Ukraine, such as online registration.
We remind you that security measures will be strengthened in Uman on Rosh Hashanah. In 2024, the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, will begin on the night of October 2nd and end on the night of the 4th.
