In Kyiv, repairs have been completed on the metro section between the Demeevskaya and Lybidska stations.
On Thursday, September 12, full train service will resume between the stations “Geroev Dnepra” – “Teremki”, announced the mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko.
According to him, the work lasted 9 months. During this time, they prepared the construction site, transferred more than 200 cable networks, including those of DTEK, Ukrtelecom, and others. They dug a pit more than 15 m deep, dismantled the old part of the tunnel 27 meters long, and built a new one.
The tunnel frame adjacent to the new section was reinforced on both sides (with a total length of over 50 m). New tracks were laid, all utility networks were restored, and train safety systems were adjusted.
The transfer tunnel between Demeevskaya and Lybidskaya is located in difficult hydrogeological conditions. Therefore, during the repair, all necessary work was carried out on waterproofing the tunnel frame and chemically stabilizing the soil around it.
The estimated cost of the entire complex of works amounted to UAH 383 million, which is UAH 62 million less than the original cost.
In July 2024, two officials of the capital’s metro were notified of suspicion of official negligence due to flooding of the tunnels between the Demeevska and Lybidska stations. The suspicion was announced to the head of the track, tunnel structures and buildings service and the chief engineer. They face imprisonment for up to 5 years with a fine. The investigation believes that they did not maintain the structures, although money was allocated from the budget for this.
Earlier, the mayor of Kyiv said that the emergency situation on the “blue” metro line arose due to non-compliance with technology during the construction of the section. The movement between the stations “Demiivska” and “Lybidska” was promised to be resumed in early autumn.
