Killing civilians and attacking critical infrastructure are key elements of Russia’s military strategy, Kislitsa emphasized.
Only the ability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to destroy military targets located in the Russian Federation can force Russia into peace, because Putin understands nothing but force. This was said on Tuesday, September 10, by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, Sergei Kislitsa, in a speech at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
He noted that the Ukrainian side “really wants to end this war.”
“But Ukraine also wants to save its people and its state. But the Russian dictator is obsessed with territorial conquests, he needs Ukrainian cities, or rather their ruins, as a symbol of his “success,” Kislitsa said.
He emphasized that the Russian strikes are aimed, among other things, at intimidating not only Ukraine, but above all its partners – to prevent decisions “that would allow Ukraine to strike the territory of Russia over long distances.”
“This is the logic of a gangster, of which Putin really is, – you have to beat the victim with such brutality that passers-by did not even try to protect him, but crossed the other side of the street for fear that the same thing can happen to them, however, the world – This is not the criminal area in Leningrad where Putin grew up, and the international community is not a group of frightened passers-by who are afraid of a street fight,” said Kislitsa
He emphasized the importance of establishing a just peace in compliance with international law and restoration of sovereignty, which is expected, in particular, by the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
“We must force Russia to strive for Comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter,” Kislitsa emphasized.
It should be noted that on the evening of September 10, the UN Security Council convened for a meeting at the initiative of Ukraine to discuss Russia’s shelling of civilian infrastructure.
Earlier, German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock said that Putin does not need peace, but seeks to destroy Ukraine.
