A fatal accident involving military personnel occurred in the Lviv region.
The accident occurred at about 3:00 on September 9 on the Kyiv-Chop highway within the village of Dorohovizh in the Stryi district. It is preliminarily known that the driver of a Mercedes passenger bus collided with a Renault road train parked on the roadway. As a result of the collision, the bus driver received bodily injuries from which he died at the scene. This was reported by the Lviv regional police.
Nine passengers of the bus were injured – residents of Kyiv, Chernigov, Zakarpattia and Ternopil region aged from 25 to 43 years. Doctors are clarifying their diagnoses in the hospital.
Law enforcement officers opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 (violation of traffic safety rules or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The culprit faces three to eight years in prison.
Lviv City Council deputy Igor Zinkevich reported on Telegram that 12 military personnel who were on the bus were injured.
Let us recall that on August 13, a fatal accident involving a passenger bus with children occurred in the Khmelnytsky region. At the time of the accident, there were 23 people in the bus, including 19 children, two accompanying adults and two drivers. A 12-year-old girl and one adult died in the accident. Another 16 children were injured.
