The flow of migrants could flood Europe again due to food problems in some countries in the world, the president believes.
If Ukraine fails to unblock ports for grain exports, then Europe could be hit by a tsunami on migration. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his speech at the festival of digital technologies and media 4Gamechangers in Vienna.
“If the threat of this famine is not eliminated, if the Black Sea is not immediately unblocked, the result of the food crisis will be like a migratory tsunami that will hit you, even though Austria is still far from the sea,” he said.
Zelensky said that by invading Ukraine, Russia created the threat of large-scale famine by blocking the Black Sea, and now it has millions of people hostage, including in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
He also recalled Europe’s reliance on Russian gas.
“Just look at the prices of fuel, gas, etc. What’s happening to them? The markets are very dependent on Russian companies, on Gazprom and Russian oil suppliers. It means the wallets of Europeans is too dependent on how much they want to get stuck with them again in one state, ”Zelensky said.
He added that a state cannot interfere with the lives of everyone in Europe or even around the world, and noted that for many years it has been said that Europe should not rely on Russia’s energy resources: “And in this year we need to do it so that the next winter is not a disaster, “Zelensky stressed.
In addition, he recalled that the Russian Federation spent money for energy resources against the entire community of democratic countries.
“He is the sponsor of divisions and disinformation, anti-European political movements and problems for the whole continent. The flow of money used against the democratic world must stop this year. Otherwise, everyone hates to democracy will understand that the democratic the world cannot defend itself, ”Zelensky stressed.
The President of Ukraine reiterated that the partners should strengthen the policy of sanctions against Russia and cooperate with weapons for victory.
Recall that last week the G7 called on Russia to unblock access to Ukrainian ports for grain exports.
