The Russian army has lost a rare Russian drone, the Merlin-VR.
In the Liman-Kupyansk direction, fighters of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery division of the Rubezh brigade defeated a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with an FPV drone. The National Guard of Ukraine reported this on Telegram on September 8.
The footage released by the military shows a Ukrainian FPV drone approaching the Merlin at point-blank range, and only a moment before the explosion, the connection is lost.
As is known, the Merlin-VR is a Russian hybrid experimental reconnaissance drone. At one time, the occupiers called it a “technological breakthrough” due to its alleged noiselessness, improved optics and flight range.
Let us recall that in June, the Ukrainian Defense Forces used a Yak-52 aircraft to intercept a Russian Zala reconnaissance drone over the Nikolaev region. The aircraft itself had no weapons on board, and the second pilot acted as a gunner.
