The Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant has once again found itself in a high-risk zone.
This was influenced by the Russian shelling that Russian companies carried out on September 2. It resulted in damage to one of the two external overhead lines through which the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP receives power from the Ukrainian energy system to meet its own needs, the press service of Energoatom reported.
It is noted that if it is damaged, an emergency situation will arise due to the loss of external power supply to the pumps that cool the active zones of the reactors and the fuel storage pools of the nuclear power plant.
The company said that Ukrainian specialists cannot yet inspect the damaged area and begin repairing the line because the Russians may resort to repeated shelling. Ukrainian specialists will repair this line as soon as they are guaranteed safety.
Let us recall that on August 11, Russians set fire to a large number of automobile tires in the Zaporizhzhya NPP cooling tower. This was probably a provocation or an attempt to create panic in populated areas on the right bank of the former reservoir.
Subsequently, the IAEA stated that their specialists were unable to draw final conclusions based on the data and observations received regarding the fire at the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
