The Supreme Anti-Corruption Committee removed the electronic bracelet from the mayor of Mukachevo, Zakarpattia Oblast, Andriy Baloha. The court cited problems with its recharging due to power outages and the bracelet itself not working properly.
This was reported by the publications “Slovo i Delo” and the Telegram channel NABU Daily.
At the same time, the term of the remaining duties assigned to Baloha was extended until October 23:
- arrive at the first call;
- do not leave the Transcarpathian region without permission;
- report changes in your place of residence and work;
- refrain from communicating with other suspects, witnesses and other persons;
- hand over foreign passports for safekeeping.
The SAP prosecutor asked to extend all duties. The defense asked to soften the ban on Baloha leaving Mukachevo to the Zakarpattia region.
They also asked not to extend the obligation to wear the bracelet due to the unstable operation of the device and constant power outages. The court allowed the mayor of Mukachevo to move freely around Zakarpattia and removed the bracelet from him, the publication notes.
It is noted that the decision was made on August 23 by the investigative judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court, Vladimir Voronko.
The anti-corruption court arrested the mayor of Mukachevo in June with an alternative of UAH 30 million in bail. These funds were paid for him and he was released from the pretrial detention center under certain obligations, including, in particular, not to leave Mukachevo without permission and to wear an electronic bracelet.
