The aggressor country, the Russian Federation, plans to revise its nuclear doctrine.
The Russian Federation will amend its nuclear doctrine in response to the West’s actions in the war in Ukraine. Work on this matter is “at an advanced stage.” This was stated on September 1 by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, enemy propaganda reports.
As has been repeatedly stated on our part, the work is at an advanced stage, and there is a clear direction to make adjustments, which are also conditioned by the study and analysis of the experience of conflict development in recent years, including, of course, everything related to the escalation course of our Western opponents in connection with the SVO, the diplomat noted.
Ryabkov did not specify what changes he was talking about.
As is known, the current nuclear doctrine of the aggressor country was last changed in 2020 by a decree of dictator Vladimir Putin. It speaks of the possibility of using nuclear weapons in the event of a nuclear attack by an enemy, a ballistic strike, the use of biological or chemical weapons against Russia, or if there is a threat to territorial integrity.
Recall that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the Kremlin’s threats to use nuclear weapons are merely an attempt to intimidate Ukraine and its allies. According to the head of state, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “loves his life too much” to use “nukes.”
