The Cabinet of Ministers decided to cut the direct telephone line to the Kremlin, which was introduced more than 26 years ago.
The Ukrainian government has stopped operating a direct classified telephone line between Kiev and Moscow, which has existed since 1998. This was announced on Friday, August 30, by the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk .
“The Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on the organization of a direct secret telephone line between Kiev and Moscow, established in Moscow on February 27, 1998, is terminated,” wrote Melnichuk said in a report on government activities on Friday.
Melnichuk did not say when this line was last used.
Earlier, the media, citing sources, reported that the offensive in the Kursk region allegedly disrupted secret negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, which would have stopped the attack on energy and energy infrastructure on both sides. However, the Russian Federation rejected the negotiations with Kiev on infrastructure attacks.
