Italy does not allow Ukraine to fire its weapons at the territory of the Russian Federation.
Rome is transferring mainly defensive weapons to Ukraine. In particular, the country is currently preparing to transfer the SAMP-T air defense system. However, it cannot be used on the territory of the aggressor country Russia. This was stated by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, according to Corriere della serra.
Each country decides for itself. We repeat that we are not in a state of war with Russia, NATO is not in a state of war with Russia, therefore, for Italy, the position remains unchanged – to use our weapons on the territory of Ukraine. Then other countries decide as they see fit, – the official noted.
Recall that on July 21, after another drone attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for increasing the range of Western weapons provided to Ukraine. He noted that a fair response to the Russians would be for the allies to decide to allow them to strike Russia with Western weapons at long distances.
