Last year there were about eight thousand shellings of populated areas and communities in the Sumy region, and in less than a year there have been more than 10-300 shellings.
Russian invaders have significantly increased shelling in the Sumy region compared to last year. They literally “hunt” civilians. The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Vladimir Artyukh, announced this on Thursday, August 29, during a telethon.
“In particular, last year there were about eight thousand settlements and settlements in the Sumy region, and this year in just eight months there were more than 10,300 shellings. Moreover, in August more of the two thousand shootings in the region were recorded ” he said.
Artyukh added that the use of aircraft weapons has increased tenfold compared to last year.
“The invaders mainly used guided bombs; 753 of them were launched in August,” he said.
The official noted that the Russians also use FPV drones. This month alone, the enemy used 600 such drones, resulting in 23 casualties.
“In fact, the enemy will “hunt” the population of the Sumy region. Almost every drone “hunts” our people, infrastructure facilities,” he added.
Since the beginning of the evacuation announcement, 19,800 people have been evacuated from the Sumy region, almost 2,000 of them children.
President Vladimir Zelensky visited the borders of the Sumy region and held a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky and the head of the Sumy OV Vladimir Artyukh.
