It is in the Czech Republic’s interest to continue to support Ukraine in all aspects and strive for a fair and strong peace, Pavel emphasized.
Continued support for Ukraine remains a major challenge for Czech foreign and security policy. Czech President Petr Pavel said this on Tuesday, August 27, at a meeting with the country’s diplomats, writes Ceske Noviny.
He noted that Czech foreign policy is committed to complying with international rights and treaties.
“The cessation and, above all, the failure of the Russian aggression is in our vital interests,” Pavel emphasized.
The President of the Czech Republic noted that the country managed to maintain a unified, expected and understandable position on the main issue of supporting Ukraine, not only at the government level, but also in the opposition.
“The Czech Republic has proven that it is serious about helping Ukraine. In particular, the initiative to provide artillery ammunition to non-EU countries helps Ukrainian defenders overcome a critical period,” he said.
Pavel added that if Russia wins, Europe will face negative economic and political consequences.
The Czech Ministry of Defense is studying Poland’s experience in creating a legion of volunteers from Ukrainians.
The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala said that this year the Czech Republic will allocate 500 million crowns (more than $21 million) to humanitarian support, support for development programs and economic assistance to Ukraine.
