Artem Dmitruk did not report that he was a people’s deputy of Ukraine when he crossed the border with Moldova.
The country’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, told the Moldovan service of Radio Liberty about this.
There he was accepted as an ordinary citizen who had left the territory where the war was going on, the official said. He added that the Moldovan side had fulfilled its obligations: the MP’s entry was documented, after which he left the country through the Chisinau International Airport.
MP Artem Dmitruk, who was charged with assaulting a police officer, illegally crossed the border with Moldova on August 24. According to Radio Liberty’s Moldovan service, he then immediately flew to Rome.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky, at a specially convened meeting, ordered the development of a plan to strengthen the border between Ukraine and Moldova in the unrecognized Transnistria region.
On August 26, “servant of the people” Dmitruk stated that his family was “followed” and “attempted to kidnap” in Europe.
Dmitruk claims that his mother, wife and two children were first kidnapped from a hotel, and then the kidnappers “repeated the attempt at the airport.”
Where exactly in Europe this incident took place is not specified. At the same time, the MP reported that his family was helped by a security company. Also, according to Dmitruk, a statement was written to law enforcement agencies, “after which the local police immediately conducted an on-site investigation into the individuals mentioned.”
