As a result of the explosion at the plant, one of the two largest main oil refining units was damaged.
At one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, Gazpromneft-ONPZ, the AVT-11 primary oil refining unit failed due to an explosion. Reuters reported this on Monday, August 26, citing its own sources.
It is noted that the AVT-11 unit is one of the two largest primary processing units in the plant. The second installation of this type, AVT-10, was idled by a fire in early August.
According to the Russian authorities, as a result of the explosion, 7 people are in the hospital, one of them is in serious condition.
The refinery administration has assured that the fire at the Omsk refinery is under control and business is running as usual.
The Omsk Refinery accounts for about 8% of the total volume of oil refining in Russia. By 2022, the Omsk Refinery will have processed more than 21 million metric tons (420,000 barrels per day) of crude oil.
We remind you that at night there was a loud explosion at the Omsk Oil Refinery, and later a fire started in the business territory. The AVT-11 installation exploded before. There is a fire coming from an installation designed to separate the oil into fractions and then process them.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia there was a fire at the Transneft oil refinery in the Komi Republic.
