The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine today, August 25, in the evening, published a statement regarding the unfriendly actions of Belarus.
It notes that, according to intelligence data:
- Under the guise of exercises, the Armed Forces of Belarus are concentrating personnel, equipment, tanks, artillery, MLRS and air defense in the Gomel region near the northern borders of Ukraine;
- Mercenaries of the former Wagner PPK were also recorded.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that conducting exercises near the border and the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant creates threats to the national security of Ukraine and global security in general.
We call on Belarusian officials not to make tragic mistakes for their own country under pressure from Moscow, and on its armed forces to stop unfriendly actions and withdraw troops from the state border of Ukraine to a distance exceeding the range of the fire systems existing in the Republic of Belarus, the Foreign Ministry noted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Ukraine has never taken and does not intend to take any unfriendly actions against the Belarusian people.
We warn that in the event of a border violation, Ukraine will use all necessary measures for self-defense, and all troop concentrations, facilities and supply routes of Belarus will become legitimate targets for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Foreign Ministry added.
On August 23, the monitoring group “Belarusian Gayun” reported that, starting from August 10, when the troops began to be overthrown, a group of at least 1,000 people was concentrated in the border Gomel region. In particular, several helicopters and attack aircraft were overthrown, as well as a number of units with armored personnel carriers, tanks and S-300PS air defense systems.
