The Kursk operation is a “preventive strike” by Ukraine to avoid encirclement of Sumy region. In Kyiv, the Kursk offensive was commented on in detail for the first time.
According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the operation in Kursk region is complex, but it has already accomplished several tasks: Ukrainian troops are replenishing the exchange fund, and they have also disrupted Russia’s operation in the north.
It also showed the world that it is more important for Putin to occupy Ukrainian territory or to protect his own population.
The operation is complicated, it is important that it goes according to our plan. There are several results of this operation, but I cannot say everything. First of all, it is the exchange fund. It is being replenished, this is positive.
The second is stopping the operation in the north of Russia. We prevented the encirclement of part of the Sumy region and the city of Sumy.
Who is now talking about a buffer zone, who was talking about us playing the card for dialogue. What dialogue? We are not playing any cards. We are very open with our partners. We said how diplomatically we are moving towards a fair peace and until the end of the war. And everyone was invited to the peace summit platform.
As for all the goals of the deal, we believe that they will be achieved. There are more of them than I have told you publicly.
One of the goals of this operation is to show the reality of who Putin is. Also to show their society what is more important to Putin – the occupation of Ukrainian territory or the protection of his population. And I am very glad that everything that I told my partners, we have now shown in practice. He is still thinking about how to hold on to the captured territories and does not think about how to properly protect his people. He is now bombing his villages, Zelensky said at a briefing together with the President of Poland and the head of the Lithuanian government.
