Russian military personnel turned the women’s correctional colony No. 11 and they are fighting the Ukrainian Armed Forces, military “bloggers” confirmed.
Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation attacked the construction of a women’s colony, where Russian soldiers were imprisoned and placed firing positions. This was reported by the Bild project in Russian, launched by the German tabloid Bild.
During its advance in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian army reached the women’s colony, where heavy fighting continues today, media reports.
In the village of Malaya Loknya, 14 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, the Russian military turned correctional colony No. 11 of women and fighting the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is likely that even the colony’s guards were engaged in the defense of the institution, the journalists suggested.
Since 2011, the colony has had 203 convicted criminals, sentenced to terms ranging from 10 to 20 years in prison.
Several dozen Russian soldiers were entrenched around the colony, building barricades and using the prison’s watchtowers as firing positions and the large buildings as protection against Ukrainian attacks.
The Ukrainian military, for its part, is firing at the Russians from German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicles and attacking the watchtower at the entrance to the women’s colony with drones, the project reports.
Pro-government military bloggers confirmed that Malaya Loknya has been almost completely cordoned off by Ukrainian units, but inside the complex, Russian Armed Forces soldiers continue to hold the line. The Russian Ministry of Defense says that all attacks by Ukrainian troops in Malaya Loknya have been “rejected.”
A shot from the colony appeared in the video of the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
As we have already written, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that the military commandant’s office created in the Ukrainian-controlled territories of the Kursk region fully meets the basic needs of local residents, in accordance in the Geneva Conventions.
