Ukraine resumes electricity exports from August 25.
The situation with electricity has improved, and a power surplus has appeared in the Ukrainian energy system. It is observed during daytime hours, when solar power plants are actively operating. It is to resolve this issue that electricity exports will be resumed. Ukrenergo reported this on August 23 in Telegram.
Power engineers emphasized that in order to avoid accidents, the energy system must operate in a balanced manner – the amount of energy produced every minute must correspond to the amount consumed.
There are two ways to overcome the surplus:
- limiting the generation of Ukrainian solar power plants;
- resumption of electricity exports during daytime hours.
Ukrenergo emphasized that given the economic inexpediency of limiting the operation of solar power plants, Ukraine plans to resume electricity exports to neighboring countries starting from August 25. Electricity will be sold exclusively during the period of surplus, when solar power plants are operating.
During periods of maximum consumption, when there is insufficient capacity in the energy system, electricity will not be exported from Ukraine, the company assured.
Let us recall that on August 23, another nuclear unit, which provides 1,000 MW of power and stability to the Ukrainian energy system, was released from repair ahead of schedule. The Ministry of Energy stated that this will allow not to use restrictions on energy supply.
