In the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation, inmates have taken hostages in high-security penal colony No. 19. They are demanding $2 million, a helicopter, and the opportunity to travel abroad without hindrance.

    .

Several hostages have already been killed. This was reported today, August 23, by Russian media.

The Russian Federal Penitentiary Service said that convicts took prisoner officers hostage during a disciplinary committee meeting.

Russian Telegram channels report that prisoners have already killed three staff members. Several staff members are also reported to be in intensive care.

A photo has emerged of one of the convicts posing on the prison grounds with an ISIS flag. A mullah from the Volgograd mosque is to arrive for talks with the prisoners.

Information has emerged that the attackers were armed with knives acquired through corruption in the correctional facility.
