The Republican candidate is trying to increase his ratings at the expense of an independent candidate.
US presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that if he wins the election, he is willing to give a position in his administration to independent nominee Robert Kennedy if he withdraws his candidacy from the race. Trump said this on Tuesday, August 20, in an interview with CNN.
“He’s a brilliant guy,” the ex-president praised the independent candidate “He’s a very smart guy, I’ve known him for a long time… I respect him.
At the same time, Trump said: “I don’t know what he’s thinking about leaving (the race – ed.), but if he’s thinking about leaving, of course, I’ll be open to it.”
The former head of the White House reiterated that he has a higher rating than his opponent, the Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris.
“I’m ahead in the polls, but not by that much. But whatever that is, my strategy doesn’t change. We don’t want crime. We want a strong army. We have to stop the importation of drugs. We have to stop the flow of people to our country through an open border,” Trump stressed.
The possibility of a Trump-Kennedy partnership has been discussed for weeks as both candidates compete for the same groups of voters.
At the same time, analysts noted that although, according to polls, the rating of the Democratic candidate continues to grow, this is not due to a decrease in Trump’s rating, which remains at approximately the same level. The increase in support for Harris is due to the influx of the Kennedy electorate, which does not support Trump, but is also unwilling to vote for Biden.
We remind you that, according to the results of an Ipsos poll, Harris leads Trump in the upcoming US presidential election with a result of 42% to 37%.
