Defense Ministry spokesman Sun Lifang reported that all the missiles fired hit their target, showing that Taiwan’s military is sufficiently prepared.
Taiwan conducted missile exercises simulating the interception of enemy fighters and ammunition. This is what AFP reported on Tuesday, August 20.
It was noted that the objective of the exercise was to increase the overall combat capability of the forces.
From the Jiupeng base in southern Pingtung County, the military launched Sky Bow III and American Patriot II missiles. While the RIM-66 Standard missiles were fired from a frigate on the coast.
“All the missiles fired hit the target without any problems. This demonstrates the good training of our officers and soldiers,” Defense Ministry spokesman Sun Lifang told reporters.
We previously wrote that Taiwan, threatened by Chinese military incursions, is working to improve its defense capabilities. In particular, the country is modernizing existing reservist training and trying to create a large, professional army.
Recall that China has threatened to “crush” Taiwan’s independence. According to the Chinese minister, the Chinese army will act “resolutely” to prevent the independence of the island.
