The Israel Defense Forces said the hostages were abducted by Hamas early in the war.
The bodies of six executed hostages, kidnapped by Hamas at the beginning of the war, were found overnight in the Gaza Strip. All the prisoners were kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, when militants attacked Israel. Haaretz reported this in connection with the Israeli Defense Forces.
One of the dead prisoners was 79-year-old Abraham Munder, whose body was found in Khan Yunis. Munder’s nephew, Eyal Mor, said his uncle’s body was found in a tunnel in southern Gaza and he was believed to have died in March. The family has not yet been told the cause of death while authorities await the autopsy report.
The other dead was 80-year-old Chaim Perry, whose body was discovered by the military in the Gaza Strip. He was kidnapped on the first day of the war. The kibbutz reported that he lived in the Hamas tunnels for several months until he was killed in captivity.
Another hostage found was 80-year-old Yoram Metzger, who was confirmed dead in June. His wife, Tamar (Tami) Metzger, was also kidnapped but released in November.
The other two found – Nadav Popplewell and Yagev Buchstab – have also been in captivity since October 7.
The sixth person killed, Alex Danzig, was imprisoned in Gaza. The IDF confirmed his death in July, saying he was killed months earlier.
