The Kamennye Mogily nature reserve in Donetsk region was probably destroyed by Russian occupiers.
The Russian command has deployed its troops on the territory of this tract, located near the village of Nazarovka in the Mariupol district. Mariupol Mayor’s Advisor Petro Andryushchenko reported this on Telegram on August 20.
Taking into account the behavior and nature of the base (in particular, the belt polygon and the use of all types of equipment), it can be stated that the Kamennye Mogily reserve has been destroyed, he noted.
According to Andryushchenko, this is already the second reserve destroyed by the Russians in the Mariupol region. The first was the Meotida reserve, which stretches from Mariupol to the Babakh-Tarama farm, destroyed by bombs and military deployment. At that time, a unique nesting site for birds listed in the Red Book was lost.
As is known, the Kamennye Mogily reserve, located near the village of Nazarovka in the Volodarsky district, was founded on April 5, 1927. This is a special nature conservation area, the area of which is about 400 hectares.
The reserve is part of the Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve, subordinated to the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The area of the Kamennye Mohyly tract is unique and representative in geological, biological, artistic-emotional and historical aspects.
Let us recall that recently it was reported that Russian invaders destroyed the Askania-Nova nature reserve, located on the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson.
