A bus driver traveling from Russia’s Kaliningrad to the Latvian capital Riga crashed into a traffic island.
An Ecolines passenger bus traveling on the Kaliningrad-Riga route overturned in Lithuania’s Šakiai region. As a result of the accident, 26 people were injured, both citizens of Latvia and citizens of Russia. The accident was reported by the Lithuanian portal Lrytas.
The Department of Fire Protection and Rescue reported that at 05:51 a message was received that a passenger bus traveling on the Kaliningrad-Riga route overturned in the village of Zhigenai, Šakiai district. There were 47 people on the bus.
According to Marijampole district police spokeswoman Gintare Navickaite, the vehicle was driven by a Latvian citizen who lost control and crashed into a traffic island.
As a result of the accident, 26 people were injured. Among them are citizens of Latvia and Russia. There was also a Lithuanian on the bus. The injured were taken to hospitals in Jurbarkas and Šakiai.
“The rest are currently housed in the Gelgaudis Special School, and the Šakiai administration has ensured that the people are fed and that no one threatens them,” Navickaite added.
We remind you that in Russia a KamAZ military truck collided with a car with children, there were casualties. A military truck with the letter “V” on its cab did not allow passenger cars. A woman with a small child died. Three other children were hospitalized.
