One of the pilots of the Russian Tu-22M3 bomber, which crashed in the Irkutsk region the day before, died. The governor of the Irkutsk region, Igor Kobzev, announced this on Friday, August 16, in Telegram.
According to him, other pilots were diagnosed with “injuries of varying severity.”
It is known that a Tu-22M bomber crashed in the Cheremkhovo district of the Irkutsk region of the Russian Federation. The Russian propaganda agency TASS, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that during the accident the plane’s crew allegedly managed to eject.
Later, TASS wrote, citing the regional governor, that all four pilots on the Tu-22M3 plane were found alive.
Russian Telegram channels reported that the plane crashed near the entrance to the village of Mikhailovka. Before that, it started to burn.
According to preliminary data, the incident occurred during a scheduled training flight. The bomber, belonging to the Russian Air Force, crashed near the airbase.
