Funding sources for pensions or humanitarian/social assistance in Kursk or Belgorod regions, Ukrposhta suggests, could be frozen funds of the Russian Federation.
Ukrposhta is ready to open a branch in the Ukrainian-controlled city of Sudzha, Kursk region of the Russian Federation, if it receives instructions from the headquarters for work in the liberated territories under the Cabinet of Ministers. Interfax-Ukraine wrote this on Thursday, August 15, with reference to the General Director of Ukrposhta Igor Smilyansky.
He added that in order for Ukrposhta to operate in Sudzha, two main conditions must be met: ensuring the safety of the company’s employees and the availability of financing sources.
“Ukrposhta is ready to open in Sudzha under two main conditions: the first is an adequate level of security conditions, especially for our employees and people in the territories. It is not about guaranteeing 100% that security, because it is impossible in Ukraine today , but about the acceptable level of risk The second is making the appropriate decision and source of financing,” said Smilyansky.
“Resources of financing pensions or humanitarian/social assistance in Kursk or Belgorod regions may be frozen funds of the Russian Federation,” the company added.
It was noted that permission to open Ukrposhta branches on the territory of Russia can be received by the headquarters for work in the liberated territories under the Cabinet of Ministers.
Let’s recall that the military commandant’s office was created in the Kursk region of Russia, headed by General Eduard Moskalev.
As you know, Russia has admitted that Ukrainian troops have advanced at least 30 km into its territory. This marks Ukraine’s deepest and most significant advance since the fall 2022 counter-offensive.
