Spiegel says there is a possibility that outsiders can get in; soldiers were forbidden to drink the local tap water because of its possible poisoning.
The Bundeswehr barracks in Cologne-Wan, Germany, has been completely sealed off: law enforcement officials are investigating possible sabotage. This was reported by the local publication Spiegel.
According to the media, tap water in the barracks area may be contaminated, so soldiers and staff have been ordered not to drink it. Residents in the area are not in danger because the military has a separate water supply system.
The publication added that there was a possibility of strangers entering the barracks.
“The barracks in Cologne-Wan is home to several command bodies, as well as the military and civilian offices of the Bundeswehr. The aviation operations of the Federal Ministry of Defense are also based here, as the barracks are located right next to Cologne Airport. In total, 4,300 military personnel and 1,200 civilian employees are deployed,” – said Spiegel.
