In more than 900 days of full-scale war, 1,646 Ukrainian medical facilities were damaged and another 215 were completely destroyed as a result of attacks by the Russian army. The Ministry of Health reported this on Monday, August 12.
“Russia continues to attack Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, including medical infrastructure, and also terrorizes civilians every day the enemy bombs hospitals, clinics, maternity hospitals, etc., thereby creates an additional burden on the health care system,” the message said.
The greatest losses were experienced by medical institutions in Kharkov, Donetsk, Nikolaev, Kyiv, Chernigov, Dnepropetrovsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
As noted by the Ministry of Health, it is currently impossible to obtain comprehensive information about the extent of damage to hospitals in the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation.
In addition, the Russians damaged 196, destroyed 266, and captured 125 emergency medical vehicles.
The Ministry of Health noted that they are working to restore the Ukrainian medical infrastructure. Specifically, 530 items were fully restored and another 355 were partially restored. We are talking about medical institutions in deoccupied territories, as well as those that received minor damage: windows were knocked out, roofs were destroyed, facades were damaged, etc.
Most of the items were returned to Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkov and Chernigov regions.
As you know, on July 8, the Russians launched a massive attack on Ukraine. One of the targets was the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv. Two people died in the establishment and 30 were injured, including 10 children.
The SBU established that the Russians attacked the hospital with an X-101 missile. A video of this attack has been released.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin lies that they are not attacking civilian targets in Ukraine.
