Yesterday, August 11, at 20:00, a fire broke out at a technical water supply facility on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant.
As a result of the incident, cooling tower number one caught fire and other technological equipment was damaged, the press service of Energoatom reported.
The energy company noted that the radiation level at the station is within the current standards, and there is no threat of radiation contamination for the population yet.
There are no violations of the boundaries and conditions of safe operation. No exceedance of control levels for emissions and discharges of radioactive substances has been recorded, – Energoatom notes. – The reliable reason is the negligence of the Russian occupiers, or deliberate arson by the cooling tower orcs.
It is noted that cooling tower number one is located approximately 1 km from the station’s power units.
Energoatom notes that Russians are using the premises and structures of nuclear power plants as military warehouses for storing equipment, weapons, explosives and military ammunition:
- They placed military vehicles in the station’s machine rooms;
- Cooling towers are also used as storage and shelter facilities for military equipment and ammunition, which significantly increases the risk of fires in the production areas of nuclear power plants.
The degradation of the NPP systems and elements is worsening the overall safety situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP every day. Large-scale fires can lead to the development of what happened up to a radiation accident, – Energoatom notes.
