On Friday, August 9, the Russian military used new aerial bombs to strike the territory of the Sumy region. They have a longer range than regular Kab. This was announced by the head of Sumy Regional Administration Vladimir Artyukh during the telethon.
According to him, in the morning the invaders launched 24 air bombs across the Sumy region, but there were changes in the ammunition they were using.
“Previously, these were simple UABs that planned and launched attacks on populated areas and infrastructure, now new planning munitions have appeared, they are similar to UABs, but this bomb flies more, twice as accurate .” , the official said.
During the day, the Russians fired 11 new bombs across the Sumy region.
Artyukh clarified that the methods of combating such weapons are the same as in the case of UABs – first of all, it is necessary to shoot down carrier aircraft. It is also possible to use electronic warfare equipment available in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Let’s recall that in June, President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Russian Federation employs 3,500 UABs monthly.
