The SBU and the police detained a foreigner in Vinnytsia who, on instructions from the FSB, was preparing a series of arson attacks on Defense Forces vehicles.
To carry out the task, the Russian special service “sent” its agent from a neighboring country to Ukraine.
The aggressor was most interested in the official vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which were deployed to the front and are now undergoing maintenance in Vinnytsia.
In order to find them, the suspect arrived at the service station at night. There was an SUV of Ukrainian defenders parked there, the SBU reported on August 6.
Initially, the attacker took a photo of the potential target in order to coordinate it with his Russian handler.
Then, following FSB instructions, he purchased two canisters of gasoline and set fire to the car at a certain time, filming the process on his phone.
He was supposed to continue the series of arsons in the city, but was detained “hot on the trail”. The offender faces up to eight years in prison.
