The authorities of the Kursk region (RF) stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly tried to break through the border.
However, this was allegedly prevented thanks to border guards, the armed forces and the Russian FSB. This was stated by the acting governor of the region, Alexei Smirnov, adding that there were five wounded and houses damaged in the region.
They also said that 26 Ukrainian drones were allegedly shot down in the region. Local media reported that explosions were heard in a number of areas.
Russian Telegram channels, including “Two Majors,” also wrote about this on August 6.
There are battles on several sections of the state border. The enemy crossed the border several hundred meters in a small group on one of the narrow sections of the front (…). According to intelligence, Kyiv has decided to create a media picture similar to the spring events in the Belgorod region, the occupiers note.
The Russians believe that the border was crossed by fighters from the 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade and the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC).
The General Staff and the “Russian Volunteer Corps” and other volunteer formations, allegedly consisting of Russian citizens and fighting on the side of Ukraine, have not commented on information about new attempts to break through the Russian border.
Let us recall that the last raid in Belgorodsk and the Kursk region of the Russian Federation took place on March 12-21, 2024, by the forces of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), the Freedom of Russia Legion (LSR), and the Siberian Battalion, fighting as part of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
