The Okhmatdyt Restoration Council will provide public control over all restoration processes.
The Ministry of Health created a council for the restoration of the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv. The press service of the Ministry of Health reported this on Tuesday, August 6.
“The order of the Ministry of Health approved the regulation of the Council for monitoring the restoration of the destroyed (damaged) buildings of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital Okhmatdyt – the Council for the Restoration of Okhmatdyt,” the message said.
The Okhmatdyt Restoration Council will ensure public control over all restoration processes, in particular, it concerns compliance with transparency and integrity when choosing a contractor to carry out repairs and interior decoration of the modern diagnostic building and hospital treatment complex.
The council will consist of 15 people, and its composition will be approved in two stages.
In the first stage, the council will include representatives of philanthropists who made the largest donation and the organizers of the collection (six people), the Ministry of Health and Okhmatdyt.
The second phase includes the selection of seven representatives of public associations and charitable organizations working in the areas of preventing corruption, protecting patients’ rights and developing health care.
Representatives of public organizations will be selected by the staff of the Restoration Council based on the results of consideration of applications and rating voting.
As is known, a scandal erupted around the restoration of Okhmatdyt after the Russian missile attack on July 8. The Okhmatdet Charitable Foundation chose a little-known company as the winner of the tender, which has some of the most expensive price for repairs.
The Ministry of Health and the hospital responded to the scandal. It was decided to hold a new tender. The Ministry of Health also canceled the related tenders for the restoration of Okhmatdyt for 14 million Hryvnia.
