Ivan Goncharuk Street has appeared in the city of Kamen-Kashirsky.
This is stated in the decision of the head of the regional military administration. It is these authorities that are obliged to carry out the derussification of toponyms after local government bodies failed to complete it.
Goncharuk was a Ukrainian military man, a UPA soldier, a member of the OUN, and a participant in the struggle to restore Ukraine’s independence. Ivan Goncharuk was the last UPA soldier executed by the Soviet regime.
Since 1975 he lived with his family in the village of Komsomolskoye (Stepen Slobozhanskoye, near the city of Zmiev).
The open trial took place in the city of Kamen-Kashirsky and lasted from October 12 to 16, 1987. At the same time, the KGB organized a ladder of villages demanding the conviction and execution of the “bandit”. The court’s verdict was predictable – the death penalty. The accused never admitted guilt in torture and murder, the cassation appeals of the lawyer and the accused did not achieve the desired result.
On October 19, 1987, in Lutsk, Judge Boris Plakhtiy, who in 2021 through the court achieved an increase in pension to 202 thousand UAH per month, and people’s assessors B. Panchuk and Artemenko signed the death sentence.
By the decision of the National Rehabilitation Commission of April 29, 2021, he was rehabilitated.
