This was stated by human rights activist of the center “Viasna” Leonid Sudalenko at the conference “New Belarus”, reports the publication “Nasha Niva”.
According to him, more than 3,380 people were recognized as political prisoners, and almost 2,000 of them were released.
Sudalenko also added that human rights activists from Viasna know of at least 5,472 people convicted in politically motivated criminal cases.
Let us recall that in 2020, mass protests broke out in Belarus against the results of the presidential elections, in which dictator Alexander Lukashenko allegedly won again. The national white-red-white flag became the symbol of the protests. With the support of Russia, Lukashenko managed to stay in power, and a number of Belarusians became victims of repression.
