In Buryatia, a state of emergency on a republic scale was introduced because of the flood, which resulted in significant rainfall. The head of the republic within the Russian Federation, Alexey Tsydenov, announced this on August 4 on Telegram.
“A state of emergency on a republican scale was introduced, as Tarbagatai, Zagraevsky, and Mukhorshibirsky districts were immediately affected by the flood,” he said.
On Saturday night in the Mukhorshibirsky district, the dam of the Khonkholoi reservoir began to overflow. Five settlements are at risk.
Temporary accommodation centers were prepared in the area and the population was evacuated.
On the rivers Tugnui, Suhara and Khonkholoyka, bridges and approaches to them were washed away in three sections. Restoration is in progress.
As a result of the overflow of water on the road in the area of the village of Khonkholoi on the federal highway P-258 Baikal, traffic for all types of transport was blocked.
We remind you that on April 5, a protective embankment dam built in 2010 in the city of Orsk in Russia was damaged. The city and surrounding villages were flooded, and the evacuation of the population began. Local authorities have declared a state of emergency.
