Every tenth business created in the first half of 2024 in Poland will be owned by Ukrainians, and 77% of newly registered businesses in Poland by foreigners are headed by Ukrainians, PAP reports.
According to the Polish Institute of Economics (PIE), from January 2022 to June 2024, approximately 59,800 Ukrainian active individual enterprises (JDG) were created in Poland.
It is noted that in the first half of 2024, citizens of Ukraine will create more than every tenth business in Poland (11.2%), and 77% of active, recently registered businesses of foreigners in Poland are headed by Ukrainians.
As reported by PIE, the share of Ukrainian businesses created by women in the first half of this year was about 35%, which is lower than the share of businesses created by Polish women in the same period (38 %).
“In 2023, the share of Ukrainian women leading active individual enterprises was higher than the share of Polish women (37% vs. 34%) In January 2024, we recorded the lowest share of JDGs created of Ukrainian citizens (31%), and in July 2022 – the highest (44%),” the publication notes.
According to the Polish Economic Institute, individual Ukrainian businesses created in the first half of this year operate mainly in industries such as construction (23%), information and communication technologies (19%) and services (12 %).
The report notes that in terms of industry structure, businesses created by Ukrainian men differ from businesses created by women. Men mostly found businesses related to construction (34%), information and communication (23%), transportation and warehousing (11%). Almost every third business run by Ukrainian citizens provides services (30%).
