The event took place today, August 2, in the village of Kamenka, the press service of the State Emergency Service reports.
Returning to his garden, a 50-year-old local resident stepped on an unknown explosive device. As a result of the explosion, he received a mine-explosive injury in the form of amputation of his foot. He independently went to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, the department said.
The State Emergency Service calls on citizens to strictly observe mine safety measures.
Do not visit cemeteries, forests, forest belts, fields, river floodplains and other open spaces, especially those where battles took place or were under hostile occupation, the department notes. These territories are heavily contaminated with explosive objects, unexploded ordnance, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.
