Disclosure of information at the pre-trial investigation stage negatively affects the judicial process, the department said.
Law enforcement officials may investigate the leak of pre-trial information and the disclosure of data from operational investigative activities in the case of the murder of public figure Irina Farion. This was said by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Maryana Reva, Ukrinform reported on Friday, July 26.
He called the leak of information unacceptable when many publications published information about the suspect’s name, his photo, email correspondence, and so on.
“Certainly there is a leak everyone immediately tries to find out as much information as possible through their sources in law enforcement agencies, we always make sure that all the information from the pre-trial investigation is isolated and we provide only the information that the investigation allows,” said Reva.
The speaker recalled that the disclosure of information at the stage of pre-trial investigation has a negative impact on the judicial process.
“Of course, information leaks are monitored because any data disclosed without the consent of the pre-trial investigation body could negatively affect the trial and sentencing of the suspect,” Reva said.
As you know, on the night of July 19, Irina Farion was killed with a gun in Lvov. And on July 25, the Russian neo-Nazi group NS/WP claimed responsibility for Farion’s murder.
The previous day, law enforcement officials detained a suspect in the murder of Irina Farion in the Dnieper. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klimenko, said that the 18-year-old detainee was a resident of the Dnieper. According to media reports, the detainee is a junior football player from the Dnieper named Vyacheslav Zinchenko.
