Due to the abnormal heat, the oil containers in the two high-voltage transformers exploded, causing them to catch fire.
The reactors of the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant did not work for almost 12 hours on the night of July 16 due to an emergency situation. NV reports this with reference to the information from the interlocutors of the publication in the Rada.
It was found that two transformers in the nuclear power plant had failed.
An energy industry source said that at a nuclear power plant substation, oil tanks in two high-voltage transformers exploded due to overheating due to heat.
“Yes, in fact, the transformers were burned out. This had an additional effect, a 1,000 MW unit was turned off unexpectedly,” the leadership of Lingkod ng Bayan said in the publication.
However, Energoatom workers immediately removed the consequences of the accident during the day.
Let’s recall that on July 17, Energoatom reported that it had connected the next power unit to the network ahead of schedule – after reloading nuclear fuel and scheduled equipment repairs.
Earlier it was reported that in Germany on the morning of July 18, a fire broke out on the territory of a disabled nuclear power plant in Bavaria.
