The American leader transferred the authority to implement the law on support for Ukraine to two departments.
US President Joe Biden gave his powers under the law on support for Ukraine to the heads of the US Treasury and State Department. This was reported on Monday, July 22, on the White House website.
The statement notes that Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have been given powers “delegated to the president” by certain points in this law. These, in particular, are related to the possibility of confiscation of frozen assets of Russia in favor of Ukraine.
The reasons for this step were not reported.
Let’s recall that in January of this year, the US Senate Committee adopted a law that would help Washington to confiscate Russian assets and transfer them to Ukraine.
