The plan would give Kyiv permission to fire ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles and other weapons at airfields inside Russia. Once the occupiers were rejected, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “could offer a deal”, Johnson wrote in an op-ed for the Daily Mail.
According to the authors of the plan, Russia would retreat to the borders as of February 24, 2022. The territory of Ukraine controlled by Kyiv is recognized as a free country with the prospect of rapid accession to the European Union and NATO.
Trump proposes that after the war, some Ukrainian units be deployed to European countries to replace the 70,000 U.S. troops stationed on the continent to deter potential Russian aggression. This would allow the White House to “save money, bring American troops home, and force Europeans to do more to defend themselves, which is one of its key goals.”
Special protective measures are introduced for the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine, and after this Russia announces the completion of the so-called SVO, which allegedly fulfilled its task and “denazified” Ukraine.
Washington under Trump will have to show that international borders must be respected and that the Soviet empire cannot be restored by force. That means standing by the Ukrainians to the end, Johnson said.
Recall that the day before, US presidential candidate Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. After that, he promised that if he wins the election, he wants to bring peace to the world. To this end, he plans to bring Ukraine and the Russian Federation to the negotiating table.
