US presidential candidate Donald Trump had a “very good phone conversation” with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. CNN reported this last night.
According to Trump, Zelensky congratulated him on the successful Republican National Convention and “nominated me as the Republican candidate” for the presidency of the United States.
The Ukrainian leader also condemned the “heinous assassination attempt” on Trump last Saturday and noted that Americans are united in these times in the spirit of unity.
“I thank President Zelensky for reaching out because I, as your next President of the United States, will bring peace to the world and end the war that has taken so many lives and destroyed countless innocent families. and negotiate an agreement that ends the violence and creates a path to prosperity,” Trump said.
CNN also recalled that after Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine, Trump repeatedly said he could end the war in one day. But it is still not clear how he will achieve peace.
