Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has suggested that he will resign, but only when he has “finished” with Russia and Putin and ended the war.

“We have to end it (the war). We have to end him (Vladimir Putin). I think it is very important for our people and our country,” Zelensky told the BBC.
He also admitted that he could hand over power to someone else, but stressed that this would only happen after the war with Russia.
Let us recall that the president’s term of office is scheduled to end on May 20, 2024. However, the Constitution prohibits holding any elections during martial law, so Zelensky’s term continues.
The president himself has previously said that he would like the 2024 presidential elections to go ahead as planned. However, he said that organizing elections in the midst of military action is difficult and also contrary to the law.
Zelensky also said that his presidential term had not expired, since martial law was in effect in the country and his term was continuing. The European Union also assured that it had no doubts about Zelensky’s legitimacy.
