Ukraine may agree to a diplomatic settlement of the war, the head of state said.
The whole world must put pressure on Russia to persuade it to come to the negotiating table and consider ending the war. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview with the BBC.
According to the head of state, this does not mean that all the occupied territories of Ukraine will be returned by force. “I think the power of diplomacy will help,” Zelensky said.
The president noted that a weaker Russia on the battlefield would put Ukraine in a stronger position at the negotiating table.
“By putting pressure on Russia, I believe we can agree on a diplomatic settlement,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized.
Zelensky said that if the Western partners remain strong, the hot phase of the war can be ended before the end of 2024.
Let’s remember that on June 15-16 the first Peace Summit was held in Switzerland with the participation of 100 countries and international organizations.
Following its results, President Vladimir Zelensky said the second Peace Summit “will take place in months, not years,” and that Russian representatives will be present. The Ukrainian leader believes that the event could be held in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.
The Kremlin says Russia is ready for dialogue on the “Ukrainian settlement,” but Moscow must understand what will be discussed at the second Peace Summit.
