Belgium will finance reconstruction projects in Ukraine to the tune of 150 million euros. This is confirmed by the agreement signed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal with his Belgian counterpart Alexander De Croo in an online meeting, Shmygal himself said on his Telegram channel on Wednesday, July 17.

The funds will be used to restore energy and social infrastructure in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

According to the agreement, the Belgian development agency Enabel will open its representative office in Ukraine.

Shmygal thanked official Brussels for supporting Ukraine in the fight for freedom, independence and a European future.

The Belgian news agency Belga clarified that it is talking about investments worth around 150 million euros over four years.

The agreement allows the Belgian cooperation agency Enabel to participate in the restoration of the affected regions of Ukraine. The main activities are planned in Kyiv and Chernigov regions.

The collaboration includes restoring critical infrastructure and creating comfortable accommodations in schools.

The first tranche of 20 million euros promotes decentralized energy installations in Kyiv and its suburbs before next winter, with a focus on hospitals. Belgium will also support the installation of generators and solar panels in medical institutions and schools.

We remind you that Belgium will transfer 30 F-16 fighters to Ukraine, but the process will continue until the end of 2028.
