Hungary cannot be stripped of its presidency of the EU Council, despite the fact that trust in its Prime Minister Orban has fallen to zero.

The Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency, Vera Jourova, said this in an interview with Obshchestvenny.
We can boycott and openly show that we do not agree with Orban’s policies. This is what we are doing now and gradually preparing for the Polish presidency, which begins in the new year, Jourová added.
She also noted that the Hungarian presidency comes at a time when the Rada will not be making any key decisions.
According to Politico, 63 MEPs are calling for Hungary to be stripped of its voting rights in the EU in the wake of Orban’s “peace missions.” In their letter, which the publication relies on, they point out that Orban “has already caused significant damage by exploiting and abusing his role as the presidency of the European Council.” It is noted that this letter is “the latest attempt to condemn Budapest.”
Let us recall that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban sent his “peace plan” to all European leaders. Budapest emphasized that this plan is supposedly based on a realistic assessment of the situation, real goals and an appropriate schedule.
Hungary, which holds the rotating presidency of the EU Council, plans to hold a summit of foreign ministers in Budapest on August 28-29. According to Politico, the ministers intend to organize their own summit.
