Latvia and Germany have agreed to jointly purchase drones to support Ukraine within the framework of the Drone Coalition. Delfi reported this the previous day, July 15.
At the NATO summit in Washington, Latvia and Germany agreed to deepen cooperation within the drone coalition to secure drone orders in support of Ukraine.
“Within the framework of the Drone Coalition, the countries are implementing an initiative to provide Ukraine with reconnaissance drones, armored drones, drones equipped with artificial intelligence, as well as anti-drone capabilities,” said Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds.
He explained that this could be achieved by inviting other coalition members to enter into agreements with drone manufacturers in Latvia and Germany.
Along with Latvia, the Drone Coalition also includes Australia, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Great Britain, Ukraine, France, Czech Republic, Sweden and Estonia.
We remind you that the Coalition of Drones and Electronic Warfare was created by Ukraine and Latvia in December 2023.
In June, the UK and Latvia announced the first drone tender for Ukraine. The competition will select manufacturers who can provide drones on a large scale and at an affordable price.
The participating countries of the Drone Coalition for Ukraine signed a memorandum providing for the creation of a general fund of 45 million euros.
Recently it became known that Sweden is joining the cooperation on drones for Ukraine, better known as the International Drone Coalition.
